We Are a Women’s Organization, 2013 - 2014. Video Installation of 3 projections.
The work We Are a Women’s Organization was shot over an eight months period while I was living in Charlottesville, Virginia. The work focuses on Confederate monuments in Virginia, and the group of women who initially erected, and now preserve, many of these monuments: the United Daughters of the Confederacy. In audio interviews, the women discuss the organization and its activities, and react to the prospect of the monuments removal.
The work We Are a Women’s Organization was produced with the assistance of the Fund for Video Art and Experimental Cinema, The Center for Contemporary Art, Tel Aviv with the support of the Israeli Film Council.
